Guidelines for Submissions to Mums in Science

We accept articles/guest blog posts and job submissions.

We reserve the right to edit all submissions and not to post articles or jobs that we do not feel suitable.

How To Submit An Article

Submission Guidelines

You need to be logged into the Mums in Science site and not have an empty profile to submit an article

Title: Your title must describe the article in 50–60 characters.

Post Content:  Try to add images to your post and use formatting as much as possible to make your post look interesting.

  • Length:  Best articles are greater than 1000 words, but we may accept shorter posts.
  • Images:  You can use up to five images/photographs that you own the copyright of.
  • Links: You can have up to one link in the main document per 500 words.

: Up to 155 characters.  This should summarise your post.

Post Image: This is used on our home page and category pages to show what your article is about. The optimal size for this image is 340 (W) X 250 (H) pixels.

Category:  Your post must fit in one of our categories or it will not be accepted. Any post added to the uncategorized section will not be accepted.

Articles We Accept

We will accept all original articles which we believe will benefit our readers.

The article must not have been published elsewhere and you MUST own the copyright of the article and any images that you submit.

All article submissions must be in one (or more) of the following areas:

  • Career Development
  • Parenting
  • Finance
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Pregnancy
  • Bullying at Work
  • Work-Life Balance
  • Returning to Work
  • Diversity at Work

We include informative articles and personal experiences that will help our readers.

Articles We Wont Publish

We wont publish

  • Articles that harm the reputation of another person, group, or organization.
  • Articles that have been posted elsewhere.
  • Articles where the author does not own the copyright.
  • Articles that are blatant advertising or just posted for backlinks.

Credit For Articles

We will credit you with the article and your Mums in Science profile will be linked to the article.

Where The Article Will Be Posted

Your article will be published on this website in the articles section and in the corresponding categories section.

In addition, if we think it appropriate we will also repost your article on our

And it will also go out to all our newsletter subscribers, which is published on the first Wednesday of each month.

Copyright

Anything published on the Mums in Science website will become the shared property of the author and Mums in Science.

All articles are published under the creative commons liscence.

You must own the copyright of any article that you submit.

Time For Article Review And Acceptance

We attempt to read all articles within 14 days.  If your article is accepted we will publish it within one month of receipt.

How To Submit Jobs

Submission Guidelines

All jobs are submitted directly to the site at https://mumsinscience.net/post-a-job/.

If you submit a job without being a member of the site you will automatically be made a member.

Jobs will only be accepted for publication by members who do not have empty profiles.

Jobs We Will List

We will list any type of job that we believe will benefit our readers.

These can include, for example

  • Any job within the STEM field
  • Research and academic positions
  • Retraining
  • Teaching positions
  • Part-time jobs and internships

How Long It Takes To Get Listed

We attempt to publish all our jobs within 14 days of receipt.

How To Submit A Link

We are developing a link directory that will be accessible soon.  Guidelines for submission will be here when the directory is ready.
