Learn a little more about Mums in Science and how we started
Mums in Science started in 2005 after its founder, Dr Shara Cohen, identified the need for STEM mums to be supported. Shara was a senior scientist in 2000 when she left mainstream science on the birth of her first daughter. That same year she established a scientific communications company, which enabled her to use her scientific knowledge and connections to communicate science research between academia, clinical practice and industry, whilst also caring for her family. By 2005 she had two daughters and a thriving company, but saw many women her age leaving science completely due to family constraints and lack of support. So she established Mums in Science which started as a blog and has grown into an international network of people providing information and support.
