Job description

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in General Engineering to contribute to the redevelopment of our distance-learning general engineering curriculum. You will also work as part of the engineering teaching team to help with the presentation of existing modules, and to carry out up to two weeks of face-to-face teaching annually at our engineering residential schools held during July and August.

You will be research active in a discipline that aligns with one of the existing research areas of the School of Engineering & Innovation: Materials Engineering, Energy, Design, Systems Thinking, Integrated Waste Systems, and Acoustics. All of these research areas contributed strongly to the Open University’s REF2014 submissions. You will be expected to secure external research funding, publish in high-ranking peer reviewed journals and contribute to future REF submissions.

You must be committed to the principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of your teaching and research. Experience of online and/or distance education would be desirable.

The University is proud to have gained an Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award in April 2013. The School of Engineering & Innovation is currently awaiting the outcome of its application for Bronze Award status.
